After update to FF 40, launching firefox just shows a blank window on Linux Mint 32bit. No controls, no menu, nothing. Apparently links are there, when I click one the title changes accordingly but nothing is shown. Just that blank window.

Trying to figure this one out myself I started firefox in safe-mode: same issue. Refreshing firefox solved the problem but got me back an old issue I resolved with a fix: characters in the urlbar are unreadable. I fixed that one some time ago by setting gfx.xrender.enabled to false in about:config. This workaround seems to be a problem in FF 40 and leaves you with only blank FF windows :(

Ok, and the way-to-go with url bar issue is installing the fxchrome theme.

I had this exact same problem after last update (now Firefox 40.0). Setting gfx.xrender.enabled to true manually in prefs.js solved the issue.

The issue I previously had with fonts in the urlbar seems to be gone: I think I had it with some older hardware.

All's well now, thanks a lot HermanBee !!!
