My email server migrated to a new system, and they have adopted Microsoft Outlook, which is terrible. I was using Thunderbird for 20 years and loved it.

When my principal email server migrated to a new system, they used Microsoft Outlook to organize my email. I've used it for almost 2 months and it's awful. I'd like to restore my old Thunderbird program. It appears to be functional: I get the number of messages in my Inbox indicated on the Thunderbird icon, and a audio prompt any new messages are received. The only problem is I can't get into my mail because Thunderbird will not accept any of the passwords that I offer (I only have three). Can someone please fix it so I can either reset my password, or have Thunderbird recognize one of my passwords? The principal server wants me to establish a new Thunderbird account, but that means I lose all the data from the old account.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Create some folders in 'Local Folders' account to organise emails. Move all emails from the mail account into the folders in Local Folders. When emails are in Local Folders, you can remove the old account. Tools > Account Settings select the old account Click on 'Account actions' Select 'Remove account'

Click on 'Account actions' select 'Add mail account' Enter name, email address and pasword click on Continue make sure the correct type has been selected eg: pop or imap

If necessary use 'Manual Config' button to enter server settings Click on 'Done' to create new mail account.
