I back up my TB profile every few months. I just went thru the Cox-Yahoo email conversion and I am getting emails. When I did my back up, I noticed in the properties it had one more folder and the files went from 1311 to 2585 files. Is something wrong? Do I need to compare and research what is causing this or just move on!

We can give better advice if you post screenshot of the profile itself and one of each account and one of the message folders in each account. First, look yourself and you might see immediately if there is a problem, especially if you see several folder followed by -1, -2, etc.

I am a bit lost as to what you want me to post but I will try. I do have 6 converted Cox-Yahoo mail accounts/couple gmail and hotmail as well as a lot of older ones in by Local folders . I will post the MAIL folder and one of the ones IMAP inside. I hope I did not block out anything you need or post anything I should not have. I could not find a message folder.

What the screenshots show is that there are three copies of a POP account and what appears to be several copies of an IMAP account (You mention 6 COX accounts, but to me it looks like one account with nine duplications). That is why your space is so large, all those duplicates. Duplicates happen because something (antivirus? firewall? some monitoring software?) is interrupting or placing a hold on thunderbird folders. When thunderbird tries to update an account and cannot, it creates a new name, and that causes duplications. I suggest browsing through them for the latest date. The IMAP account will repopulate, but be careful in reviewing the POP to avoid deleting the one that may have most recent messages. The screenshot indicates they all happened in a short span of time.

If you click any of the accounts, such as imap.cox.net-1, you will see the message folders for it.

One more tip: if you see any NSTMP files, they're trash and can be deleted.

so what you are saying is to find the most recent IMAP for cox and delete the rest? I have always had IMAP.

That would be my approach. The problem could come back, depending on what is causing that.

As I go thru the 9 it seems the one that has no -1 thru -9 has the most accounts so is that the current and most accurate one? If I delete all the -1 thru -9 will I loose any emails.

The first print screen I posted was from the back up file so they all had the same date..here is a post of the LIE IMAP Mail folder which has different dated (just noticed this). So I should delete maybe not the first or any dated today but all the older ones? This will not effect all the Local emails I saved/moved before the Cox-Yahoo thing? Maybe shut off Norton too? Actually do I even need the imap.cox as now it is all imap.mail.yahoo now?

I just noticed that the first photo I posted was from my backup of my profile which showed todays date on all files. Attached is the LIVE file which shows older dates..So I could delete all the old -1 thru -9 files for IMAPMAIL for cox? Just a thought. I no longer have a Cox account..they are all now Imap.mail.yahoo.com which is listed below..should I then not need ANY of the .cox ones? I did move any email I wanted to the LOCAL folders before the Cox Yahoo merge for safe keeping..deleting these IMAP files should not affect them right? The second pic is the lower section of this same live folder with lots of cox stuff

I have posted more here with two LIVE pictures but no longer see my additional posts here..do I need to post again or just be patient for the site to update?

I will try again..the first screenshot I sent was from the back up so it had all todays date..I will attach the LIVE screenshot with this posting. I am wondering if I need ANY of the Imap Cox files as I no longer have Cox and the imap for Yahoo that is listed below is imap.mail.yahoo. Before the merge I put all my emails into the local folders for safe keeping so deleting these files should not affect the local folders Right??

I agree. If the COX account is fully with Yahoo, all of the COX can be removed.

Yes, they were just index files. Let them all go.

Did you delete the account? Click 'account settings', highlight the COX account in left column, then scroll down slightly to see 'Account Actions. Click there and there is a menu option to delete the account.

Bit confused..all my email accounts that said cox not only yahoo..but I did find this? Is this where you want me to delete the three smtp cox accounts? the other notations that say cox are just names to let me know they came from cox.

That screenshot indicates eleven accounts. I presume you had three COX accounts that are now Yahoo accounts, so the three smtp.cox.net entries can be removed.

On the pane where you did the screenshot, are there any accounts listed other than the three Yahoo accounts, two Gmail accounts and two Outlook accounts? My presumption is you have these seven accounts. If true, any others should be removed.

Yes in TB i have 4 cox-Yahoo accounts, 1 Outlook hotmail, and 2 gmail. Do not know why outlook hotmail shows twice. that one seems to always not remember the password either. I went down on the left in TB to after Local Folders and deleted the three cox and the print screen shows them gone but in profile 3 cox imap are back like before .

I do put three accounts in the Unified folders..any effect there?
