Thunderbird was updated to version 91.5.1 on 1/30/2022. Since that time Thunderbird has not opened fully The application appears to be loading showing various folders like inbox, trash, etc with local folders checked and dialog for local folders set-up, like add new email account. Can never click to change folder to inbox. Please suggest solution that avoids lose of emails stored on the computer. Email is coming from Comcast email account. Computer is Dell running Windows 10. Thanks for your help.

Please start *Windows'* in safe mode with networking enabled win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

  • Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode

Does problem go away?

Thanks for your suggestion. It did not solve the problem. The only difference was that I was able to close thunderbird by clicking on the red box in the upper right hand corner. there was also a message at the bottom left saying "building summary file for inbox" Are the emails in the profile folder that is found in user>app data>thunderbird>roaming and local? If so should I save the profiles and then uninstall thunderbird and reinstall new download? Then rename saved profile for the new profile created in the new version?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles describers how to create another profile. There is no need to uninstall.
