Before Thunderbird (v 38.3.0) I had been able to setup new groups using the "new list" function. I would create a list and then open my personnel address book and the drag names from my personnel address book into the new list I just made. I tried that just now and after I add just 10 names to the new list it won't take any more names. I can drag them to the new list but when I open the new list only 10 contacts are in there. I am going to shut down Thunderbird, restart my computer, restart Thunderbird and see what happens. If you don't hear back from me in 5 minutes that didn't fix it.

The problem was the 10th name i dragged to the new list didn't have an email address.......just a name. When I removed that contact, the new list accepted all the other contacts flawlessly!! A little error msg would save some time and aggravation when this situation arises!!

Thanks Matt for the effort.

perhaps try restarting with add-ons disabled from the help menu. I can drag more than 10 to my newly created lists.
