How to prevent FFv6 from turning on 3D as it starts

On starting, Firefox v6 starts in 3D mode whether needed on not (i.e., usually not). Thus, Firefox look terrible on that screen, but looks OK when moved to other non-3D screens. This also has confusing effect on other 3D related programs as they get confused about whether 3D is on or off. They also don't know whether is was turned on via the USB connection or via the VESA DIN connection (what I like to call the "commercial" mode and the "professional" mode). The VESA DIN connection is said to lead to more precision.

I don't know what "3D mode" means but it sounds like you should try going to the preferences, "advanced" tab, and un-check the checkbox "Use hardware acceleration where available". Equivalently you can do the same thing by going to the special about:config address and setting layers.acceleration.disabled=true

I assume that you have multiple display adapters installed and that Firefox is using the not preferred #d graphics display.

If Firefox is maximized then make the window smaller and drag that window over to the correct monitor and close Firefox to save that setting.
After restarting you can maximize again.

Thanks "bjacob" and "cor-el" for your inputs, What I mean by "3D mode" is the same as the people selling you 3D-HDTV, that is, I have one of my screen capable of stereographic display (NVIDIA graphic card, IR emitter and shutter glasses), thus, 3D display. Whether started on that screen or others, FFv6 triggers the stereo mode. It would be nice if FFv6 ONLY triggered the stereo mode when it's actually called for, say when running Flash or Silverlight to display a 3D movie. Additionally, even when such situation occurs, it would be nice for FFv6 to turn 3D off when iconized or when a second instance of Firefox is started (i.e., not to leave the stereo mode on all the time). I guess I'm just trying to get a message to whoever is developing these aspects with Firefox about what is desirable and what is not.
