I installed Thunderbird (os W10) and created two accounts. Lets call them A and B. Account A can send and receive mail. Account B can only receive mail. Sending mail results in an error message: I have to submit the smtp password. After doing so the errormessage let me know that it was not possible to log on to the smtp server with the username xyz. Further error message: cannot authenticate with outgoing server smtp xyz. Check password and authentication method in the account settings.

Both accounts use the same settings; incoming and outgoing servers are the same. Authentication method is the same. I have checked these things a dozen times and am not able to find a clue. Any help is appreciated . John
