Suddenly, the firefox account stopped accepting my password on the mozilla site. I have not changed it since November. (it will save in lockwise). At the moment, a previously signed in account is valid (I did not log out of the account, but I can not change the password). I do not have account recovery enabled when resetting a password. When resetting the password, I will lose all my saved 300+ passwords, as it seemed to me previously securely saved.

Do you still have a desktop device (possibly connected to Sync) that has all your personal data ?

Yes.

Do you have mobile devices connectd to this Sync account ?

Yes.

Can you still access the Firefox Account Settings page ?

Yes.

For the passwords you need a backup of logins.json and key4.db in the profile folder.

Thank you very much, I immediately made a backup. It is strange that the previously saved password suddenly ceased to be valid.

Is this the only way in this situation, resetting the password?

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Sync isn't meant to be used as a backup and best is always to backup your personal data locally and not to rely on Sync.
