When I open a URL from Apple Mail Firefox opens it in the currently active tab. I want Firefox to open external links in a new tab. How do I do this?

I read mail in Apple Mail. When I open a URL in an email Firefox opens it in the currently active tab, replacing its content. I want Firefox to open external links in a new tab or if that is not possible, in a new window. How do I do this?

I already have "When you open a new tab switch to it immediately" checked in Firefox Preferences.

hi chris, please see if the following's working: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external. double-click it and change its value to 3 and restart firefox once.
