Hello wizmcgraw, probably you are talking for a different pc from the one who ask your question, because you have the latest firefox version 49.0.1.

it is better to fix your malware issue and then update firefox to latest, please try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista if you don't already have one. Windows 8/10 have antivirus protection built-in.
