How do I change the newtab page to an HTML?

I tried editing the newtab.xul but I wanted to play songs on my newtab and xul apparently doesn't allow that, so I was wondering if there was any way to redirect about:newtab to an HTML instead of the newtab.xul. I don't want to change the newtab.url because I want the url to be blank.

You can do that on the about:config page by resetting the browser.newtab.url pref via the right-click context menu.

See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):

Do you want to play local files or files from internet in that page?

You can't change the behavior of the about:newtab page and editing files in omni.ja is not recommended. The about:newtab page is a special page that needs chrome privileges to work properly. You would have to create your own page and access that page via a bookmark (a middle-click will open the bookmark in a new tab) if you do not want to change the browser.newtab.url pref.
