I am using Firefox with Mac 10.6.8 (I will not be upgrading), and the small icons on webpages, such as format buttons, do not show in my webpages. My Tools tab does not offer the Options selection on the dropdown menu.

I could not get the screenshot to load even after compressing it. I see a box with F2 on top of a number that is counting each box, for example - F2 over 01 then F2 over 02.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I initially may have posted links for Windows which you may have gotten via email. I edited my reply when I noticed the error and changed it to Firefox > Preferences for Mac.

I see an Add Media list and a Paragraph list in the screenshot that seem to have the hex code.

What hex code is in the file because you may be missing the font that includes the characters?

You can check the code here by opening the page with the first part (i.e. with the last three digits as 0: 0xHHH000)

See How do I create a screenshot of my problem? and show us what you see. Also post a link to the webpages where you see the problem.

You can also use the Mac OS X 10.6 grab application (located in the Applications -> Utilities folder) to create a screenshot in tiff format. You can then open it in Preview and save it as a png or jpg file so that you can attach it to a reply here on the forum.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Note that these settings affect background images.

I have completed the suggestions above (both mac and mozilla) and the icons on many of my pages still do not show except as a box with numbers in it. I know you keep recommending to do something under Tools > Options but my Tools pulldown on Firefox does not have Options available. It only has Downloads, Add-ons, Set Up Sync, Web Developer and Page Info.

In Firefox, you would click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options for Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.

P.S. Your screenshot didn't really help because the text is too small and it's fuzzy. Can you post a link to the webpage you're on in that screenshot and explain what you are trying to do? Does the website have a support or help link?
