Hello, I crashed our computer and had to set it back to the original settings. I re installed Thunderbird. When logging in in the past, she had the program remember her password. Now she has forgotten her login password for Thunderbird. Is there any way for her to access that email account?

The file containing the old login information could still exist if...

  • Windows 8.1 created a folder with a copy of your old data, typically named: C:\Windows.old
  • You have a backup of the old data on external media

If not, then, you really need the password to get into the email account. It would be the same one used to access the account through your provider's webmail interface, if that helps at all.

There is no password for Thunderbird. The password that is asked for is the email account password. This password is administered with your email provider. Go to their web mail or email help page and look for a link to reset your email password.
