I want to download youtube audio but am very afraid of Firefox add-ons because of malware and viruses. Any recommendations that are safe? Thanks.

There's two routes you can go for this. You can use a web based service to do it for you or you can install an add-on so Firefox can take that place..I found the YouTube Video and Audio Downloader add-on to do this for you

Be wary of add-ons you download from outside of addons.mozilla.org as they can have some malware in it. Add-ons that are uploaded through AMO (addons.mozilla.org) are screened for viruses during the upload process and if they come out dirty, they won't be uploaded.

The other way to use a website that does this for you. I use this method myself as it's easier for me. There's two that I use

These sites convert the video to MP3 format where it's listenable.

Thanks for your answers but I figured it out. I just use the sound recorder that comes with windows 8.1 and changed the line-in from the mike to the sound board. This gives me sound from the youtube video which is all I want. Thanks
