My firefox freezes once for 3 to 5 seconds every 10 to 30 seconds. I've created a new profile. Then installed some of my favourite add ons (without whom I couldn't do).

I've tried other main solutions told here around: turning off 'auto save option' of sessions manager (earlier it might try saving the sessions every 20 or so seconds), toggling 'Hardware Acceleration' in the options. Adding ram to my laptop (it has 3 gb now on Win7 64 bit). And I'm positive that there is no malwar in my PC. (I'm an IT person and power user).

Would/Could you help?

You should always first try a new profile without major modifications and without installing extensions.

Make sure that your security software or other software isn't causing this issue.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if this helps.

That's true. But I can't work longer without my extensions. And, anyway I thought that after recreating the profile from scratch and installing main main extensions will eliminate the problem of freezing. But alas it reappered in a day!

I'm sure Avast isn't causing this. Still, I'll try to check it in OS safe mode.

Try to exclude extensions that are provided by security software like avast! Online Security that has been reported to cause issues.
