I've just installed Thunderbird and there's no problem with receiving email, but when I try to send a google log-in screen pops up. I don't understand what this is? Hopefuly, I won't need to log on to google/gmail every time I want to send mail? Can someone help? I just closed out the window, and the emails are sitting in the sent folder, but I'm not sure they were even sent. Thanks Al

You have an incoming server cponfigured and an outgoing server configured.

At some point Thunderbird needs you to complete the sign in process for each configured server, incoming, outgoing and calendar. Unless you do it can not store your credentials for future use. So I suggest you complete the sign in process and use the save password option in the dialog asking for it.
