I am using Windows 10 and Thunderbird 45.6.0. When I try to use Print Preview, the screen flashes a message which disappears so quickly that I cannot read it. Printing works fine. I am printing to a network printer Brother MFC-9340CDW.

Thank you for your help Bruce.

I decided to try another approach before doing what you suggested.

The approach was to use the Thunderbird config editor via accessing it through Tools-Options-Advanced Panel - General Tab. I clicked on Config-Editor and read the warning message and proceeded. In the Search Field I typed print_printer. Below automatically some info appeared. I then right-clicked on the line print_printer for my Brother printer and selected Reset. Then I exited from there and went back to Thunderbird email. I then pressed print preview for an email and it worked.

First, run a Check Disk to correct errors in the file system on your computer How to run a "Check Disk" in Windows

If the problem continues after that, then try uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird.

When you uninstall Thunderbird, it should not remove your Thunderbird Profile folder which contains all your Thunderbird settings and e-mails. So when Thunderbird gets installed again, it will see your Profile folder and automatically use it.

Even so, I recommend that you backup your Thunderbird Profile Folder to another location for safekeeping: Profile folder - Thunderbird
