i can't login to my outlook account from thunderbird, but i can from the browser and the outlook app

I have multiple accounts on my thunderbird, and until a few days ago I had no problem with any of them. One day, I got an error message, saying that the password of one of my email accounts (hotmail.com) is incorrect. I tried to log in again, entering the same password (that did not change), and recieved an error. I can log in to this account in the browser (firefox) as well as in the outlook app on my mobile. I checked several times the password, to make sure it is identical to the one I enter on the browser, but with no success.

When I try to register my account on thunderbird, I get the message "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database", and when I choose either IMAP or POP3 I recieve this message: "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?"

More info: While we're focused on remediation, users may be able to access the service by logging in to their Outlook.com accounts with a web browser as an alternative method.

I've gone down this route:-

Thunderbird not working with hotmail.com since November 18th

Adding an alias worked fine for me? (And hopefully it won't go wrong again!)
