I have accidently installed babylon, have spent many hours trying to unistall it, done the spybot, removed from about config even deleted all entries from the registry via regedit.. tried all the forums even edited the profiles to read only.... any ideas?

Thanks, as networked, logged on as admin and deleted some more keys i found in regedit. then reset firefox. seems to have work..Thanks

There are three stages to solving this. Firstly find what was installed and then uninstall it. Finally reset anything that has been changed.

Firefox has a reset option that may well help but could be overkill. There is also an extension that resets a lot of the settings without damaging anything else. See


If you remove Babylon and still have a final problem with the homepage search icon look at this information: /questions/779082#answer-340641 posted by cor-el

Note that this won't restore the search icon on the about:home page.
Reset the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
  1. Open the about:config page via the location bar
  2. Type in the Filter bar: mstone
  3. Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
  4. Close and restart Firefox
