I use the Bookmarks on the right that only show when you click on "Bookmarks", but today the old always-present Bookmarks on the left has appeared also. How do I get rid of it?

I have tried right clicking on the Bookmarks listing on the left, but no menu appears. I don't need or want two Bookmarks lists, and I prefer to use the one on the right that only shows when I click on it. The new one is empty (no Bookmarks saved), but that empty column takes up space I don't want wasted!
