Firefox doesn't change any system-wide networking settings, nor does it install any low-level services, which could affect other applications, so it shouldn't cause this, it could merely be a coincidence.

Do you use any antivirus or firewall software? Did you try restarting the computer?

What error message do you get when you try to open a web site?
