How to stop the many many outbound connections beyond those addressed in the "How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections" page?

I just installed a PortableApps version of firefox 52.9.0 (32 bit) ESR. On startup it tries to make numerous outbound connections. They are mostly to Mozilla IP addresses I think. Some of the IP addresses are LIKE these (these plus slight variations on these): 54.191.46.28 54.187.147.167 35.166.127.148 52.34.90.23 35.166.127.148 I have no add-ons or extensions installed. I have set up privacy as much as I could to prevent outbound connections. I have gone through Mozilla's webpage "How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections" and done all of that stuff.

So I would like to prevent all these unwanted outbound connections.

I am also curious what would be contained in all these packets that ff is sending to these addresses.

Thanks!

You can check the about:networking pages (e.g. HTTP and DNS) for more detail.

Thank you. about:networking are some neat pages I was unaware of.

I do see two HTTP and DNSes listed in there. mozilla's 'tracking protection' and their 'shavar services' (which I think has to do with protection; updating lists of URLs that firefox will protect me from if I have understood).

I would like to stop those protective features as I am concerned that mozilla will be receiving info on every URL that every firefox user is going to, and they'll be getting information on the browsing habits of their users. (Not an issue to many I am sure, but I dislike it in principle). But I would like to visit mozilla sometimes for e.g. support or finding extensions etc. I could block the offending IP address ranges using my firewall or HOSTS, but then it is tricky to ever browse the mozilla services if I actually want to.

Thanks to anyone for any thoughts on the above. Maybe I have misunderstood these outgoing connections or overlooked something.
