When firefox browser is updated to the newest version do my settings and preferences reset themselves or do they remain the same

I wanted to know whether when i update or when firefox browser is automatically updated to the latest version if my settings and browser preferences etc that i have made to firefox browser change or reset themselves to default as i dont wish for them to be as it is and would be a nuisance if i had to keep setting things back again and again when the browser is updated to the latest and newest version so please tell me that this doesnt happen, thanks.
