If a cursor is flashing in a box, it must accept input. The about:home page and Google search page fail.

This has been listed twice in your support system, but in order to make an account to comment I have to submit it as a new question, so here you go.

It is not just limited to this version of Firefox. Google seems to think it's Mozilla's fault and I agree.

IF A CURSOR IS FLASHING IN A SEARCH BOX LIKE IT'S READY TO ACCEPT INPUT, IT MUST ACCEPT INPUT.

I start typing, and nothing happens. I click in the search box, and start typing, and then it works. IF THE SEARCH BOX DOES NOT HAVE FOCUS, THERE SHOULD BE NO CURSOR. PERIOD. THIS IS STUPID.

This is a small bug but oh so very annoying. What crazy stuff are you doing in your code to show a cursor when the search box doesn't have focus?

I'd love to provide more details about my configuration if you need them. I'm on Vista, with Firefox 32.0.1. It's a Compaq Presario CQ60. This has happened to me on multiple computers though. It only happens in Firefox; if I use Chrome the search boxes all work as expected.

This has been broken for a year. Is there a Bugzilla entry? Should I make one? If I don't hear back, I'll file one. Thanks for your help. ~Nicole

Next time you see this, could you try minimizing the window using the keyboard:

Alt+Spacebar followed by n

Does that minimize the Firefox window with the blinking cursor or something else?

Just to clarify: do not click the window before doing this test.
