I am changing isp but I want to set up FF4 as my new browser but keep old browser on old isp, till I am sure the new isp is working. I have just installed FF4, but can't find how to connect it to the new ISP. Does this make sense? probably not, I am not that smart.

Firefox does not record details of your ISP, it will work regardless of the ISP that you are using. When you start Firefox it will use whatever internet connection is in use.
