I have 3 different gmail accounts which I user under Thunderbird v 60.4.0. When I send out an e-mail from account #1 replies end up in the inbox of #3, even though the different accounts have very different names. The Reply-to fields contain the correct address of #1. I notice this behavior since about 1/ 2 year; before that everything worked as it should.

I have seen earlier problems like this described in this forum. The solution given there to use different SMTP servers or different identities for the SMTP does not work for me: Whenever I change the User Name in the STMTP Server menu that very same name is then automatically used for all three accounts. What to do??

  • Select the outgoing server (SMTP) at the bottom of the account list in account settings.
  • Ensure you have a google SMTP server configured for each of your Google accounts. If you do not have enough use the add button and copy the setting from the one you have (except the email address / user name)
  • select the incoming mail account in the accounts list (the entry above server settings)
  • Select the correct outgoing server for the account to use.
Note. If you have three GMail accounts you should have three outgoing servers configured in the outgoing server (SMTP) entry at the bottom of the account settings list.
