Can't install my own add-on

more options

I've made and have been using one very simple add-on, but I don't consider myself an add-on developer. I've read that add-on signing is mandatory and the setting "xpinstall.signatures.required" is not enough anymore. Does this mean that I can't install my (safe) add-on without publishing it? If so, should I downgrade or use a developer version?

Signing can't be disabled in Release and Beta versions since Firefox 48 when that preference was removed.

Use the Developer Edition.
