In FF 34+ How do I get rid of the search bar drop down when there is no "browser.search.showOneOffButtons" listed as a toggle? I wish the developers would leave well enough alone!!!!

Sorry, but browser.search.showOneOffButtons was a temporary pref starting in Firefox 34. The underlying code for the old Search Bar which supported that pref is gone as of Firefox 43.

This is the only replacement that I am aware of for the old Search Bar. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ has an option for Old search (experimental) in Classic Theme Restorer Options > General UI (1)

I am really unhappy with Firefox. It suddenly downloaded a new version (yesterday) and got rid of ALL my old settings. Now there is this frigging dropdown of possible search engines. I hate it! I don't need more stuff on my screen. Why are they making this like Microsoft and Chrome. Hell, I should just move to Chrome. Also, there is apparently no way now to have incognito browsing without opening a private window.
