Whole browser is crashing and going extremely slowly, causing my computer to crash.
When i try to open Firefox 4.0 the whole browser is extremely slow and makes my whole computer lag which should not be occurring because I have a Macbook Pro i7. Safari is working perfectly fine but Firefox does not. How can this problem be fixed?

I'm having the same problem on Windows XP SP3 with the newest Firefox I could download today (4.0.2 or so?). I've just wiped out my profile, uninstalled ff, deleted everything remaining in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox aswell as in the Application Data and Local Settings\Application Data, started in safe mode, disabled ALL extensions & plugins but all of these don't make a change.
Firefox keeps being freaking slow lagging my whole computer, the addons tab freezes for a long time aswell. In the firefox 4 beta 4 or 5 it was running great. It's really impossible to browse in this state, so I'm using Chrome now, which never has such bad problems. Firefox sucks :(
(I got a quad core with 3.5 gigs ram so my specs shouldnt be the cause)
