Because you don't let Firefox run any antivirus software. I picked up a trojan and it slowed my computer down to a crawl. I was forced to Reinstall my operating system and all my programs. That took me a week to do. It has been several months now since firefox keeps rejecting antivirus add ons & extensions. Please fix this issue or I will go to Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Firefox used to be my favorite browser but now it's absolutely worthless without any kind of protection running in the background! Currently Running Windows 7 Ultimate, IE, Firefox installed.

Any "tools" from an anti-virus program that run in Firefox are simply browser add-ons used to increase revenue for the anti-virus makers, your actual anti-virus protection runs just fine in the background and doesn't depend on the browser you use. We strongly suggest you not use any browser add-ons from these anti-virus makers, as they duplicate features already in Firefox, are known to be buggy and cause lots of problems, and the anti-virus makers themselves are not proving themselves to be trustworthy software developers. Again, this has no impact on your actual anti-virus protection, which runs outside your browser.

Also you should use your unaffected antivirus software to scan any .eexe you downloaded before running to be safe.

Norton has had updates for their toolbar extension and Kapersky has a patch coming I read. However you may not really need either depending on what you used them for.
