Unable to properly sign in to RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) online banking since install of the latest Firefox release 72.0.1. Windows 10, up to date. Other sites work. Chrome can access RBC ok. No error messages, it just doesn't get through the bank security protocol for some reason via Firefox. Sits with a blank screen.

Chosen solution

Try to set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • network.http.spdy.enabled.http2 = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I have the problem with logging into RBC. Opening in a private window did not help. The problem arose last weekend (Jan. 18/19) after many years of using Firefox to log into my RBC account.

RBC posted a note that they are working on the problem. From the timing i think it was triggered by a recent Firefox release. As of yesterday the problem seemed partly resolved, but still there.

Having the same problem. Tried private page still will not load as of Jan. 22, 2020. I am hoping this will get resolved soon, I real don't want to use a different browser.

Still an issue today, sometimes works and sometimes not. Usually not. RBC still recommends using a different browser. I've reluctantly had to go back to Chrome to get predictable access, and have had no problems with it.

I encountered the problem today. I was able to sign in with Firefox 72.0.2 in the morning okay, but later all I got was a blank page with a feedback tab on the right. Private window doesn't help. Chrome works, but I'm not interested in workarounds. Is RBC and/or Mozilla working on this?

I had this problem a week ago, it seemed resolved for a couple of days this weekend, and now it is back. I have Firefox 72.0.2. Safari works fine but that is just skirting the issue. RBC seems to be passing the buck; they point you to seek help from Firefox. I wish someone would accept responsibility for diagnosing this and fixing it! -- John

It's not fixed. I just tried to sign on a few times and failed each time even in a Private Browser Window. The funny thing is that I tried Chrome as well just after my first failed attempt using FireFox and Chrome failed as well. I believe that the problem is with RBC rather than any particular browser but Firefox may exhibit the issue more than the others due to a timing differences between the browsers.

Yes, perhaps I spoke too soon. I went to sign in about 20 minutes ago and again got a blank page. I clicked my bookmark again and was able to sign in. So it's not properly fixed yet.

I found a maybe similar issue with a different site today. http://www.londonrvshow.com/coupon/ lets you print a coupon for admission reduction to the London Ont RV show. Firefox would not show the necessary sign-up form though, but it worked fine using Chrome. Maybe there's some extra-security setting in Firefox that's stopping this type of thing,maybe related to the RBC issue?

This morning I could not sign in with Firefox 72.0.2 at all no matter how many times I tried.

Accessing RBC banking problems started Feb 3. I can access with Chrome and using Private Windows. So, the problem has not been corrected and is obviously a Mozilla issue. I use Windows 7 so any thought of a Win 10 connection problem is not correct.

This thread started January 15 with someone using Firefox release 72.0.1. I noticed it Feb.3 with version 72.0.2 which was released Jan. 20, but I don't remember when my FF updated. We'll just have to wait and see if the next release fixes it.

3 weeks for some and the problem still exists. Poor. I am setting my browser default to Chrome because I access RBC a number of times every day.

I had Chrome fail on me to log in the other day so I'm not sure Chrome is viable longer term solution.

I have the same problem using Firefox but Safari works just fine. I hope that someone finds a solution to this soon.
