I can't seem to recover the search box that is missing in my Thunderbird v60.4.0. I have right-clicked and selected "Customize..." on the toolbar and pressed the button "Restore Default Set" but the search box will not show up. I don't see the ability to add a search box in the customizable icons.

Try this: start in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB), then check 'Reset toolbars and controls' and click 'Make changes and restart'. You should then see the global search box and the Quick Filter Bar.
