full path in search results
I've got an immediate problem but it's part of a bigger problem: After using Thunderbird for many years, I have a very big set of folders including sub- and sub-sub-folders. When I search for a message, I get the name of the containing folder but not a full path. Sometimes I cannot find that folder. So a feature request would be to please tell me where the message in the search results actually is. This problem is made a little worse in that it's really remarkably easy to drag a folder by accident when one is cleaning house.
My more urgent problem is that today, I tried going out to a file manager (PowerDesk) and located the folder with lots of stuff in it. Closed Thunderbird, dragged the folder under Local Folders, re-opened Thunderbird. The folder is not displaying. How do I get Thunderbird to recognize this folder with its own subfolders. I have definitely imported folders and I think I just dragged them in this manner.
Help? Does TB need to re-build a list of folders somewhere? Where would that be? Thanks.

Thunderbird does not behave well when you just start dragging files and folder around in the file system. I have some words I would like to use to describe such things, but I am not allowed to use them. So just stop doing it. Ok.
That global search index your complaining about has no hope of keeping up with files system changes that add and remove folder at random. The best you can hope for is a corrupt index that reports emails it simply can not find.
importing and exporting for mail and folder should be done with the appropriate add-on.

As for the location. I find right clicking with open message in containing folder does the job for me of locating where stuff is.

And thanks for this too. I've used the program for years but never realized that I could do this. I just don't right click much (more dependent on keyboard shortcuts) and so I don't discover this path on my own in this or other programs. It is a real problem I'll have to try to remember to work on. But you have done your part, for sure.
