Mar 16 2015 my email suddenly stopped being downloaded.

I checked with Comcast and everything is fine on their end. I can get my mail on their online site.

But with Thunderbird 31.5.0 it gets past the ID and PW check, looks for new emails, then 'starts' downloading where it flashes downloading message 1 of x then says 'no new messages' and nothing has downloaded.

There seems to be no phone or online chat support for Thunderbird.

Please help!

You are correct there is no phone or chat support for Thunderbird. Given there is no money to pay developers, I can assure you support will not be getting paid staff anytime soon to answer phones, or will we be paying for phone lines.

Now let see.... In my experience the use of the word suddenly means either your provider has a problem (you say they have not) or your anti virus program/firewall has lost the plot and is messing up the getting of email.

In the first instance turn of email scanning in your anti virus package and see if that help in retrieving mail. Don't worry. Most anti virus programs don't scan most mail these days anyway, they just interfere.

Thank you... turning off the email acanning in Avast seems to have fixed the problem.

Be well!
