When I download Firefox, I begin to get messages that my system has been compromised. My Webroot finds nothing but the messages persist. Can you help?

After leaving Firefox for some seven or eight months I decided to try it again. Almost immediately after downloading and selecting it as my default browser, I got a "your PC may have acquired a virus" message with an 800 number that I needed to call for technical support.

This is the problem that caused me to give up and stop using Firefox.

The message appears every ten to fifteen minutes and often causes FF to freeze requiring a restart.

My webroot software finds to virus, but yet the annoying problem continues.

Webroot is a fairly useless anti-virus. Let's try out a few things here:

. Whenever you get a message / popup like that;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS OR ANY PHONE NUMBERS ! !

Such messages are only Spam that could lead you to Fake Support. Not only can they damage or hack your system, they charge you to do so.

You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery
