Firefox 27.0 is full of bugs.. I keep restoring more computer back to 26.0 (to a known date where I konw the computer was bug free) but it still manages to download 27.0 back onto my computer even though I am doing TOOLS>OPTIONS>ADVANCED>CHECK FOR UPDATES BUT ASK ME BEFORE INSTALLING. and I still get 27.0 put back onto my system..

Problems with 27.0 Bookmarks dissapear Not able to use back browser button

I'm 1000% positive it's 27.0. Everytime that orange Firefox button in the top left of my screen shows up the bookmarks dissapear and the back browser button doesn't work. I immediately check what version of firefox I have and yup it's 27.0. Very frustrating..

Any advice..

I don't trust system restore. Try reinstalling Firefox 26 from the link in the following article (do not uninstall Firefox 27 first): Install an older version of Firefox.

I just noticed you have an earlier thread here: bookmarks do not work. The screen shot is very interesting because it shows a regular Windows title bar and a second title bar below it.

I saw a similar problem last April and the solution was to update extensions (see I just updated Firefox and now it's crashing, not loading tabs or add-ons, and the UI is all messed up.).

To update extensions, you can try the following:

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

Then look for the "gear" button above the list, click that, and choose Check for Updates.

Any improvement?

jscher, I did what you said control shift a and nothing. So I went into orange fire fox and did the options and anything I click doesn't work. There is no "Extensions"???

See attachment.

Also jscher, I did this

I went to click on the FIREFOX 26.0 link and it asks me to save file and I click on it and then NOTHING.. What in the world is going on??

So far the only thing that works is system restore but it is temporary fix until the computer updates itself on it's own which it has done yet again. I've system restored 3 times in a weeks time and everytime it uploads Firefox 27. Even if you have system restore "to never check for updates" the darn thing stil updates..

If you're trying to get Firefox 26, here is the complete link https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/26.0/win32/en-US/

Choose either one, they both install Firefox.

bermea, Thank you. It doesn't work. When I click on either of those links in the link you provided ie 26.0 setup and 26.0 setup stub it prompts me to save file and I click on that and NOTHING happens? That firefox 26.0 box there just disappears.. Any ideas? Is this a virus preventing me from doing this download?

Note that System Restore will also effect some files in Firefox profile folder, so you may lose data stored in .js files (prefs.js and sessionstore.js).

Hi MikeBucca, you wrote:

It's not under Options. The Add-ons choice is above Options on that compact menu. You should see the puzzle piece icon next to it. Does that open it?

If not, try typing or pasting about:addons into the address bar and press Enter.

So when you choose Save File for Firefox 26, it doesn't actually download the file?

Can you download it using Internet Explorer?

Another funny thing. I went to system restore to restore my computer yet again to a earlier date. You can only restore back to a date that is in BOLD It only lets me go back a few days now and I'm pretty certain those days were when I very well could have 27.0

I just tried to open Internet explorer. Won't let me do it.. WOW!! I even tried right clicking on it and hit open and double clicking on the icon.. NOTHING. HOur glass comes up for a second and then nothing.. There has to be a way around this..

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem
