When I imported my bookmarks after a system crash all of them ended up in the UNSORTED BOOKMARKS list. When I make TAGS and put them in them the bookmark stays in UNSORTED BOOKMARKS also. If I delete the bookmark in UNSORTED BOOKMARKS the bookmark in the TAG also is deleted. How do i get the bookmarks into the TAGS I want and out of UNSORTED BOOKMARKS without losing them? I have been loading the bookmark and then making a TAG for it or using one already made and putting the bookmark in the appropriate TAG but the bookmark is still in UNSORTED BOOKMARKS also. I have read and tried all the info in FIREFOX HELP and put this question in the SEARCH but everything that comes up doesn't help. I am not a young person and I know my mind is not as sharp as it once was but I'm still pretty computer savvy, so I can follow instructions pretty well, but I just can't seem to get past this problem. Can someone plese help me? I have FIREFOX 26.0 and am running WINDOWS 7, 64 bit.

Chosen solution

The Tags folder is merely a folder that shows bookmarks that are stored elsewhere and that have a tag. If you remove a bookmark in the tag folder then you do not remove the bookmark, but only remove the tag and keep the bookmark. If however you remove the bookmark then you remove the bookmark and if all bookmarks that have a tag have been removed then the tag is removed as well. So you need to cut and paste the bookmarks and move them out of the unsorted folder to another folder and you should keep the tags.

I assume that you imported an HTML backup and an HTML backup doesn't include tags and other annotations like a JSON backup does.
