The homepage for Firefox is configured as about:home. How can I change the search engine which is used when I type something in the search bar on this page?

I can change the default home page to, for example, google.com, but then I don't have the "Restore last session" button. (That's another question: How to save the tabs, if multiple are closed on firefox exit, but start in the home page if I closed only 1 tab on exit)

I changed keyword.url in about:config from an Yahoo url to an Google url, but that didn't solve the problem.

You can restore the last session via Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session

AFASIK then you can't customize which search engine is used on the default about:home Home page, so you will have to set a specific home page to open another search engine.

Why not? Almost everything is customizable, why not make this search bar customized?
