ATT sent me an email "Hi AT&T/ Yahoo Mail member,

Important update – if you use a mail client (such as Outlook, Thunderbird or a pre-installed mail application) to access your mail on your mobile device or computer, you may need to update your settings. Doing so will ensure you can continue to access your AT&T mail account through that mail client.

AT&T will soon implement a more secure way for customers using these mail clients to login to their AT&T mail service, so it’s important your mail settings are up to date, which will ensure your service is not interrupted." I've been using Thunderbird for lots of years and I'd like to know how to continue to use it with the new security. Thank you.

This page gives the server settings and a link to how to create a secure mail key. Delete your existing passwords, if they aren't secure keys, in Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, and enter the secure key in its place when prompted or if you add an account to TB.

Under Tools there isn't an options/security/passwords/saved passwords.

Thanks, I found the place I need to go but how do I know what's a "secure key"? My accounts all have passwords.

The link in my first reply has instructions for creating the key. It's just another password that satisfies AT&T's security standards.
