I an not trying to open from from my phone, just my desktop & I do not want to have to go through my book marks to get to the home page.

Hi, I too had that kind of problem before and was pretty frustrated about that but that is solved now thanks to the page facebook facebook If you are facing the same problem you can check that out. Hope that helps.
