Thunderbird no-longer communicating with Hotmail old accounts and mixing up passwords. Is there a patch for this?

GMail seems to be ok. However, Hotmail is not accepting passwords. When updating passwords it takes the password but fails asking for a new password. Hotmail account added 6/19 seem to be operating normally and obtaining emails correctly with no issues.

It appears that the system is also switching email identities when updating the password.

Lets not go into the rabbit hole that is hotmail identities. Suffice to say only the primary Hotmail identity for an address works with a mail client.

I suggest you access the account settings. IF you have had your account for many years, the setting you need to use have changed.

This blog post from a few years ago outlines how to check your hotmail/outlook account to see what settings you should be using. https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com/2016/06/hotmail-proxy-errors.html
