Would it be possible to have a lightweight launcher that can be launched from the taskbar, just like Google Chrome's app launcher. I think that would make things more efficient.

Please update to the most recent version of Firefox:

It is quite possible to pin Firefox to the taskbar by right clicking on the program icon and selecting "Pin to the taskbar"
