I understand the change as the default behavior of Android apps, but I frequently check Firefox after the tabs/browser had automatically quit itself. I add tabs because even when browser is left opened, opening each of the tabs would reload them.

However such behavior is not good for the health of my data plan. (I am using the "unlimited" plan, but the data-based FUP is horrible) As such, I would like to prevent silently killing the tabs, only to be refreshed. I don't mind if Firefox is killed entirely, as long as the pages are intact and not reloaded.

Thanks in advance.

Android will kill any background task when it believes it needs more CPU or RAM. There is no way for Firefox to avoid being killed in this manner.

Firefox older than 20th version sure had no problem with getting killed. Firefox following the Android convention of getting killed when not used was added with version 20, as mentioned in the release notes.

As such, I am hoping the devs left some about:config option to toggle it.

You can read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-quit-firefox-android for info about quitting FIrefox for Android.

I think you have forgotten the issue I am looking to remedy: Firefox auto-quitting itself. The add-on helps in manually quitting Firefox, not stopping the auto-quit behavior.

Firefox does not have an auto quit behavior. As I said Android will end tasks at any time at Android's choosing. There is no way for Firefox to affect this behavior.

As I've said before, I have not experienced the auto-quit behavior prior to the version 20 of Firefox.
