I've just purchsed a Sony TV model KD-65XG9505 with android TV installed. I have managed to install Firefox for Android TV but hate it for all day use (no tabs). Is there any way to install a full browser (the TV has a keyboard plugged in) and also set the browser to allways request full desktop sites.

Thanks

Hi

We do not currently build or support a version of Firefox for Android TV. The closest is the version for the Amazon Fire TV devices.

Is this the firestick version https://youtu.be/xpYRHD5Y1Tk

so, is this the versionn for FIrestick or is it a trojann?

Hi

That does appear to be Firefox for Fire TV, but I recommend against installing it this way.

It looks like someone has taken a copy and made it available through another app, but this will not get important security and stability updates.

I'm guessing that i can use the same method to install the full version of Firefox? (yes I understand the risk)

Hi

I would assume so as it would just be an .APK file, but yes there are risks. Installing it this way would mean that you would not get security and stability fixes as well as new features included in future updates that you will not get.

I had a pc driving my old tv, and a solid web browser is the last thing left that stops us using Android only in the lounge. Is there a roadmap to provide a desktop browser experience on Android TV?

I am not aware of any plans at the moment, but please appreciate that Mozilla is a very large project and I am not going to be aware of everything.

The best TV browsing experience I can recommend (as I use it myself) is through Firefox for Amazon Fire TV (installed on an Amazon device from the Amazon app store).
