I have intermittent internet access and when the internet is off, I often get a popup notification telling me that my email account failed to connect to the server. I would like to know how to turn these kind of popups off, as they are very annoying and utterly useless. I also don't want to have to switch between offline and online mode all the time.

There is a setting in Account Settings which auto checks for new messages. It will say it cannot connect to server if it auto checks and fails.

Try disabling this to stop notification: Right click on mail account and select 'Settings' uncheck 'check for new messages at startup' uncheck 'check for new messages every xx minutes' If it is not checking then it should not create the alert pop up that it failed to connect when auto checking. If imap mail account you may want to stop the IDLE command. uncheck 'allow immediate server notifications when new messages arrive'

click on OK

You would need to do this for each mail account. Then you would need to manually check for new messages when in a known online state.

You can set to follow or not follow detected online state and choose options here: 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'Network & Disc space' tab Configure offline settings click on 'Offline...' button choose options eg: uncheck 'Automatically follow detected online state' select an option you prefer. Send unsent messages when going online? : select 'Ask me' or 'Yes' Download messages for offline use when going offline? Select 'yes' click on all OK's
