See our help article - Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps. However, you may need to contact the creators of those applications to provide you with instructions. I'm receiving the following error message when trying to send emails to certain recipients: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. Could someone please help me understand why this is happening and how I can resolve it? It seems like the issue is related to the SMTP server or account settings, but I am unsure how to proceed.

I just built a new PC running Windows 11 for my Dad. When I set up his Xfinity email on Thunderbird, it opens up a browser window and asks him to log into Xfinity. After typing in the email address and clicking 'Let's go', it refreshes the page and asks for the email address again.
Sometimes, it advances and then asks for the password. The same thing happens where it just refreshes the page and asks for my password again, regardless of whether I type in the correct or incorrect password.
I have cleared the cache and cookies, restarted the computer, and reinstalled Thunderbird countless times.
Is there any way around this? He ran an older version of Thunderbird on his old PC with no issue.

...which was connecting fine previously. Apparently many people are having the same problem. Thunderbird finds the settings when creating account, but they do not work. Attached is a capture of the settings I found online, but these don't work either. A lot of email providers require you to allow third-party access on the email account itself, but I couldn't find a setting for this in mail.com.

My Thunderbird calendar file is located on my organization's Nextcloud server. We just changed to a newer version of Nextcloud and moved everything to a new url, so my calendar updates no longer work. I need to edit the address of the calendar file. I open the Edit Calendar and can see the old url in the Location field. I can select and copy the contents of the Location field but I can't change it.

My Pop!OS Linux platform recently upgraded Thunderbird to version 128.0.1esr and in the process it lost access to my address book. Trying to get the address book back I encounter the attached prompt to choose the address book file format from a list.
I strongly suggest that somewhere in the process there is a "import previous address book after upgrade" or something like that. The reason is that I, like other busy users, do not know what file format is used by Thunderbird or for that matter where the address book resides. But hey, we're being asked by Thunderbird itself, shouldn't Thunderbird know these answers? Just have a choice "click to re-connect address book after Thunderbird upgrade" or something like that.
BTW I contribute financially to Thunderbird.

If i change the name of the folder in the source and sync then the new folder shows up. Thi occurs under my main email folder not the local folders..

I installed email provider Mailfence as it was recommended by Thunderbird as a good free provider, only to find out that if used with Thunderbird it charged for the service. After the first year I have decided to cancel and have informed them that at the end of the term on 9th September I will not be renewing, and later on the same day i find i have no service with them. My contract which I paid for runs out on 9th September so i have another month to ensure all contacts are aware of the closure of the account. I feel Thunderbird needs to be aware of their deceit and if possible make them comply with their contractual obligations, and determine whether they are fit to be recommended.

I have T-bird installed on my AIO & laptop, and it's my email app of choice for many years. However, this latest bug is troubling, but it is only showing wrong on my HP AIO. Both my HP laptop T-bird and MSOutlook email views show correctly. I recall a recent update on my AIO, so that may have been a factor.
What is wrong is that the AIO T-bird is giving the same "Correspondent" name, "Phil Ross" to all similar emails going back several weeks. Note that in the Bad email attachment view. Note in the "Correct labeling" attachment snipped from Outlook, that's the way it should look. Again, T-bird on my laptop is also continuing to show the correct labeling. (I don't recall it being updated like the AIO.)
That leads me to think the update may have been a factor.
Any help is appreciated.

Ladies and Gentlemen, since 25 June some emails in my inbox will be deleted overnight, without my intervention. It's happened several times already. Last it is happend on 29 july. i get 11 emails from the email-adress: noreply@pflegeboerse.at and a few hours after receiving them, only 3 of these emails were left in the inbox. I have not changed anything in the settings, nor have I deleted this email myself. This must not happen and I urgently ask for your help and solution to the problem. Best regards. Michael
