Hello there

I run Firefox on Windows 8 and the problem is as following:

When I try loading a website I oftently get the error message "Server not found" or "Unable to establish the connection" (I use the Danish browser but tried translating them as precise as I can). The errors occour randomly. It can occur eventhough I recently succesfully visited other websites, and it doesn't matter which website it is. It can happen several times a day, but 90 % of the time Firefox loads websites without any trouble. When the error occurs the website usually loads after I press update a few times, afterwhich there can go an hour or a day until the error occurs again.

The only pattern I can see is that it happens randomly several times a day.

I recently installed Windows 8, and I didnt have any trouble until then. I get the error in Google Chrome aswell, but with similar error messages. To fix the problem I gave Firefox full permission to my Windows Firewall, but the problem persist.

I have another laptop in the household that run Windows 7, which haven't got any trouble loading websites in Firefox.

I hope you can help, I really don't want to be forced to use Internet Explorer :-)

Hi,

Instead of the reload button, what happens if you use the Try again button inside the error window, does the page load immediately??

Hi again,

Thank you for your suggestion, and sorry for my late response :)

We have tried using the Try again button inside the error windows a few times as you suggested, and it appear to load immediately! :)

That makes the error easier to live with, but can we stop the error from occuring completely?

Thank you once again!

Do you have Firefox launching upon Windows start up?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

@edmeister. No it is not set to launch upon Windows start up.

@cor-el. I have already given Firefox full permissions on my Windows Firewall. I'll take a look at the links you posted :)
