Hi ... the Firefox icon opens windows explorer instead of Firefox. I would prefer firefox, but I am forced to use Edge instead. Oh, I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it 3 times.

Is this a normal desktop shortcut to launch Firefox or an internet shortcut that open the default browser? Did you check the target line in this shortcut?

You can remove this shortcut and create a new shortcut.
