My company uses Microsoft Software Center (MSC) to deploy software including Firefox ESR, so if I upgrade to the latest version MSC just downgrades it and then Firefox prompts again. The Firefox ESR options are not set to 'Never check for Updates..." and the 'policies' set by my company do not allow me to change the option permanently (even though I can check the option, it does not get saved). The relevant team in my company have said they will not change the option to "Never check for Updates ....".

Sorry that it has taken so long for anyone to get back to you.

You should be able to disable Firefox updates using group policy in your environment. You are looking for the DisableAppUpdate policy.

For more information on controlling Firefox using group policy, refer to the Customizing Firefox Using Group Policy (Windows) support documentation.

Hope this helps.

NOTE: This only works with the Firefox ESR, not the release version of Firefox.
