Hi, I'd like only certain cookies to be kept after I close Firefox 57. A legacy add on no longer works. How can I do this?

The only cookies that I require to survive after each session are for my homepage settings. I had a legacy add-on that simply deleted all cookies, except those I wanted to keep, every time I quit Firefox. I've tried various add-ons for Firefox 57, and messed around with the privacy setting, but can't get them to work satisfactorily.

You can not. See if this helps find anything, doubt it though : https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/

Can always trust the future, it is not here yet but looks promising.

Due to security reasons that's too much control : https://www.howtogeek.com/333230/why-firefox-had-to-kill-your-favorite-extension/

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies instead of using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"

You can create an "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep
